Can a baby be too big?

So my little boys turned 4 months old last Monday and has just gone into 12-18m clothes and its starting to worry me how big hes getting and am considering talking to a doctor about it but I’m not sure if I’m just overreacting and he’s just a big baby, at what point would you start to worry? x

I have a high centile baby! Some are just bigger than others. It’s usually genetics but if you see your little one jumping in centiles, they get concerned. If your little one has been tracking on the same line, he should be fine!

I don’t think so! They all grow in their own rate 💕 you can always get him weighed and see what your health visitor says if you’re concerned x

My first quickly ended up in 9-12 and 12-18 month clothes, I think when she was 4/5 months old and was much bigger than her peers. Once she started crawling and walking she just stayed in the same size and we only ended up moving her to 18-24 months clothes when she was closer to 2. She is a very happy, healthy and average sized 3 year old now. Your little one seems in proportion to me and seems long more than anything, I personally wouldn't be worried but you can have a check in with your health visitor to have him looked over to put your mind at ease. They often have weighing clinics you can take them to, worth a call x

I don't have any advice on size but he's a gorgeous baby 😊

Omg I just posted something similar I wish I had seen your post my son is 4 months and just gone into 9-12 months clothing he’s over 20lbs but not chunky he’s tall and solid and it’s happened so quickly every 2 weeks I’ve brought the next size up for the last month

My first was high centile and now my second is on the 50th centile. The eldest definitely takes after his dad, and the second more me. I really wouldn't worry. Like your son my eldest at 4 month was in 12 month clothes, and size 6 nappies it does start to slow down x

What’s his height centile?

@Zeynep he’s off the charts for hight

@Lauren oh god that is fast mines been a size a month I’ll stop complaining now 🤣 x

@Sarah thank you 🤍

He’s beautiful! I would speak with your GP if you’re concerned, my nephew has beckwith wiedemann syndrome and one of the signs is growing very quickly. It wasn’t detected initially because doctors weren’t familiar with it. Always worth checking if you’re unsure xx

@Sophie thank you, I’d heard about that which is why i first started questioning if his growth rate is normal but i have no clue how rapid growth is with beckwith wiedemann syndrome xx

@Millie I’m not sure in all cases but my nephew was always in much bigger clothes sizes. He also had a really large tongue and one of his arms was slightly bigger than the other. He had a tongue op and his growth has slowed a lot now he’s 6, so he just looks like a big 6 year old x

No I wouldn’t worry! They grow so rapidly at this age! My boy is in 9-12 months now, my girl was the same never in the size she actually was! X

My daughter is nearly 4 months and is about ready for 12-18m clothing :) tbh I think baby sizes are way off..

They all grow at there own pace! I always get worried at my 2 year old, she's only just gone into 12-18 month clothes! I asked if that was normal and I got told babies can be big or small, both is completely normal🩷
