I left my daughter naked all the time whilst at home, potty in her room and in the living room as well as steps by the actual toilet. A lot of praise when she used the toilet/potty or any accident I immediately put her on the potty. She has been fully trained since October, she turned 2 in November.
I spoke to my friend, as she has a 9 year old boy, I asked her where do I start? I didn’t think she was ready for potty training, as she didn’t really show any signs when she needs a poo or pee. So my friend told me to just give myself a week , and let my 2 year old be without nappy at home, only nappy for nap / bed time. First 2 days were horrific. Full washing machine of wet trousers always mopping floor and cleaning sofa. But it was getting better and better 🥰 I couldn’t believe in a weeks time we had no wet trausers at all 🥰 I would advise just give yourself a week , and even it’s really hard and you want to put that nappy back on your little one , just have bit of patience and give her few more days and you will see how cleaver they are ❤️❤️❤️
I read, oh crap potty training, which gave me some useful advice about the different stages
I second the oh crap potty training book! really helpful stuff in there
We keep our potty in the living room and at first I encouraged him to just try sitting on it as if it was a chair, as he is very headstrong and didn’t want to go near it for ages. Read him books like ‘boys potty time’ and ‘Lulu’s loo’. Then my mum came and toddlers are often better behaved and more compliant around other people 😂 she said “try sitting on the potty with no nappy and I’ll read you a lovely story” so that’s what she did and he did a wee! We have found that celebrating in an over the top way and clapping saying “good boy!! Well done our big boy!” has made him want to use it more to impress us 🤣
A drop of food dye in the potty, so he could see his pee magically change colour really really helped my two, they both really looked forwards to what colour it would be 😂 xx
