I would say take cues from your little one. I started weaning about 5 months. Sitting upright by himself and showing interest in food and able to grab things. Started him with single foods, like just puréed veg such as carrots and fruit like apple. Gave him a little, like 10ml each time once a day and then upped it as time went along. Mine liked to eat food when we ate dinner
@Raluca this isn't so true anymore. Most health visitors now say from 4 months if they're showing the signs. It's confusing though, because public health say 6 months. It's very conflicting advice
I started my LG with pureed broccoli and another day carrots. I did lunch time, as timing. But then when she got into food (they tend to spit it out quite often at the beginning) I changed to dinner time around 5pm (her bedtime routine is 7pm onwards) and now we are 7.5 months having breakfast and dinner. Start for life is a good resource to use.
I believe it's 6 months more to do with their digestive system being able to manage the food. Many babies can show all the signs early but internally it may not be beneficial. What is the reason for starting so early??
Every baby in my family has stated weaning at 4 months and now all growing fine and have a amazing appetite I don’t believe having to wait till 6 months to start tasting little bits is necessary.
You could ask your family members for ideas then if they have already done it.
Ok @Jazmine 👌🏼 thanks for that really good advice didn’t think of that
🤣😅 Start whenever you feel your baby is ready, you know best. My baby is 5 months tomo last week my dietician said i can start but im waiting another week or 2 as my baby just started another formula for him to settle on that amd then x
Weaning is recommended at 6 m opd unless you've been advised to start early by doctor
