Breastfeeding

My ebf baby doesn’t seem to latch properly for the last 2 weeks, I keep hearing a clicking sound and I’ve tried every position and it seems to be the same. She is not pitting as much weight on as she was and she’s not sleeping well. Still having plenty of wet nappies and at least two poo nappies. She keeps spitting up (photo attached) and I believe she has reflux and colics too. I can’t seem to be able to help her when crying uncontrollably, I feel like she is still hungry but try to feed again and she refuses 😢 She is only 6 weeks 😢 HELP! Already tried giving infacol

My little boy is bottle fed he’d drink some bottles but others he’d spit out he’d go bright red in the face cry in pain and arch his back me and Mrs believed it was colic so bought water u have and also coileaf but neither worked he was still in a lot of pain and is now , so I ended up getting him in docs today turns out to be acid reflux and been given baby gaviscon in power to put in his bottles to thicken up the milk we’ve already noticed in his last 2 bottles he’s drinking them better as the milk thickens instantly he’s still in somewhat pain wen he’s not asleep, but doc said it last for about from 4 - 8 weeks then disappears

Might be worth getting little one checked over for lip tie as it sounds quite similar to symptoms of that as it can cause clicking like sounds, poor latch and not gaining weight as quickly as they should. She might be getting disturbed sleep due to not getting enough milk during feeds maybe? So might be hungry due to not latching well. Definitely worth checking though. My little girl had a few issues when she was younger with feeding as I couldn’t for the life of me get a decent latch with her so I thought she had tongue tie / lip tie as she took forever to gain weight. GP was super helpful and checked her over and the health visitor. My little one had horrendous reflux too, I found propping her up after feeds for 30 mins helped a little bit and baby massages to help with wind / gas (there’s tonnes of videos on YouTube with info and examples which I found so helpful) Hope it improves for you soon! It’s so stressful when this all happens. You’re doing a fab job! Hang in there mama xx

Spoons alike cluster feeding and colic. It’s “normal” as long as she’s having wet nappies you’re doing fine mama

Could be lip tie, my daughter has this and clicks. This could cause those symptoms too. Also could be CMPA.

I also noticed she drinks to quickly so I might have a fast flow and is giving her gas 😢 she’s always with hiccups and sometimes it sounds like she’s choking but I can’t see anything there. My first was only breastfed too and I had no issues 😭 My HV is coming over Tuesday for her 6 weeks check up

In terms of weight, ask the HV to track it on the centile chart for you - usually its only a concern if they drop more than 2 centiles which is quite a lot 🤗 This amount of spit up looks normal 💕 Might be just a latch problem but could also be tongue tie / fast let down / oversupply. Definitely try seeing an IBCLC, you can find one locally on Lactation Consulants of Great Britain website. It’s really hard when it’s hard - you’ve got this mama 👏 (Just seen your other comment - with the choking, try feeding her in side lying as this helps control the flow a bit!)

For the choking and fast gulping i was told to try the koala hold and lean back whilst feeding to slow the flow. Tricky to master bit doable!

Just came back from 8-8 as her fontanell sunk in a bit and I thought she is getting dehydrated. She’s now going to take gaviscon for her acid reflux and they refused to do a test for cmpa/lactose intolerance so I need to cut all diary from my diet and see if it helps her as she has every symptom except the bloody stools.

@Cesca will try again it was hard for me 🤣

@Savannah the pic shows just a bit, its usually a lot more. i will contact a LC for support with it and speak to my HV Tuesday.
