Pram and push chairs

Quick question when should we switch from pram to a pushchair. My son is coming up to 3 months old tbh he doesn’t like the laying down pram much and prefers the car seat but i dont know when to switch to the push chair as i got a travel system set but i dont know if it will be too big for him but the car seat is getting a little small for him i think 🤔

I believe the recommended age is 6 months, however I moved my little boy from the pram to push chair when he was 12 weeks old. It was becoming difficult for us when going out as he hated laying down and wanted to see what was going on around him. My pram does have the recline option to lay flat so we would have him in that position most of the time and then one position up for a short period to keep him content. I know most prams also do la newborn insert so you could maybe look into that especially if your LO is on the smaller side. My LB was big at 12 weeks and had good head/neck control also.

If your seat lays flat and is suitable from birth it's fine to switch to the seat. He won't be outgrowing the car seat yet, you might need a fit check on it but the weight limit is 13kg

We switched about 5 months and made sure the seat was reclined a little. He wanted to be sitting up and looking round by then and was stable enough when reclined a bit.

@Sarah yeah my little man is coming up three months and weighs over 13 pounds and he lifted his head as soon as he was born and holds his head up well tbh so i may switch it because he likes to look around alot

We switched our LB at 3 months, he showed all signs he was ready and is now much happier

I think I moved my girl between 3-4 months into her chair. Most of them can almost fully recline so if you're worried you can try that, or one setting up so they're not fully reclined or fully sat up

There should be a recommended age for the seat, usually it's 3-6 months, depending on what kind of recline it has. Mine was a pramette/stroller seat, it reclined flat so we used it pretty early on. We used the car seat unless he was going to be in it a while though. Your baby shouldn't be outgrowing the car seat at 13lbs, most infant car seats go up to 35lbs, so you may just need to adjust the car seat. My son used his infant seat until 7 months old but didn't actually outgrow it until around 15 months, and he was 10lbs at birth and over 13lbs by two months old.

We switched at 4 months as my little boy just loved to be sat up and wanted to look around and hated laying down, he’s much happier now hes in the seat! A lot of car seats have newborn inserts that need to be removed when they get over a certain height/weight, different depending on the car seat but he shouldn’t be outgrowing it at 13lb x

I moved at 10 weeks to the seated part x
