Am I Making A Big Deal?

We finally found a name that both me and my partner liked (it’s taken most of the pregnancy to find one). I told him I didn’t want anyone to know it just incase we change it. He went on to tell a family member and now half his family knows and he says I’m making too much of a big deal of not wanting to tell people a name. They are using it in sentences and referring to the baby as the name and now I don’t want to use the name and it has really upset me. I wouldn’t share the name if he didn’t want me to. I just want to know. Am I making too big of a deal about people knowing a potential name?

If it’s your feelings they’re valid but when baby arrives they would be using their name anyway? I would wait and see how you feel when baby arrives as it may be pregnancy hormones getting to you x

No you're not making a big deal. I'd be really upset too as for me it's part of the announcement once baby is here

I had the same feeling! I made the mistake of saying the name we wanted to family early and I hated hearing them use it for her before she's here

I would feel the same, once you know the gender the name is the one thing you get to keep to yourselves before you have to share baby with the world. It’s very disrespectful to ignore your wishes regardless of the topic x

I’d feel annoyed too! My husband and I didn’t tell anybody our daughter’s name, and haven’t for baby no2 either, for multiple reasons!

You’re absolutely not making a big deal ! My husband and I have only just agreed on a name in the past 3 weeks and we’re both not revealing until she’s born so she gets referred to as “little one” or “baby girl” People need to respect boundaries !

I’d be annoyed especially because you specifically said you didn’t want to tell people. My husband and I have a name we’re 95% on but I really don’t like it if he refers to the baby by name so I’d hate it if family members did that too.

Omg same as me. I didn't even tell anyone the name but my son (5yr old) leaked the name. Now I don't want to use the name anymore and am looking for other names. But my husband is still set in using that name so I'm in the same sort of predicament

Since you told him you didn’t want anyone to know it yet..i will be annoyed too. We have a nickname for our baby and everyone uses it when referring to her.. but we made the mistake some time ago to tell a potential name and now i can’t think at any other names because that one keep popping out with everyone being soo excited about it ! 😫 we are still using the nickname trying to let people understand that nothing it’s decided yet but for some it’s like that’s the ufficial name….my grandpa even wrote a poetry for her with that name as a title!!🤦🏻‍♀️
