Moving to manchester.

Hi all! I am currently living in devon with my partner and one year old, soon we will start trying for baby number 2, Once i have had baby me and my partner would like to move to Manchester with house swap(council) and find a 3 bed. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me a bit about what manchester life is like, and if its much more expensive then living in devon? our rents currently about £500 a month

Expensive, over 1000 for 3 bed xxx

Closer to the city centre is more expensive but if you live to the outer part of Manchester like bury, Bolton, Castleton, Rochdale, it’s still within greater Manchester but just more reasonably priced xx

I’m in Oldham, 3 beds around here are about 800-900 xxx

@Chloe i dont know how things work up in manchester, but with council houses here theyre really reasonably priced. So normally in devon its around £1000 for a 3 bed aswell. But with council it would probably be about £600. I dont know if you know or not but are council houses just the same price as private rent up there?

@Vaania thank you!!

I pay 650 for a two bedroom private and I’m in Denton x

Ah no I’m private rented so is more expensive, I applied to be on my councils housing register & they said no Yeah council houses are usually cheaper xxx

It’s about 400-550 for 3 bed council house in most of Manchester x

I'm in council right next to city centre and I'm at 450 c

@Imogen how many beds? x

3 beds.. small back yard. I think most are about £500 though we've got it abit cheaper as we've been in the tenancy since 99

I pay £800 a month for a 2 bed, 1st floor flat, with Trafford Council but I think it depends what part of Manchester, as I'm in Sale and that's alot more expensive than other places
