That is awful. I’ve been in the same situation and still am I’m not sure how much my 10 month old weighs but at 8 months she weighed 14.7lbs and doesn’t seem like she’s any bigger/heavier and was born 7.1lbs. We are the same as you EBF, 3 meals a day and big portions as well. My health visitor said that she’s perfectly fine yes she is small but she’s also constantly on the move which may be the case for you. They said she’s not giving her body the time to put on weight because she doesn’t sit still from the moment she opens her eyes. All they advised me was if they’re consistently finishing meals then to up the portion size but I was told there’s nothing more you can do if they’re eating and things which seems to be the same for you. You know your baby best do whatever you feel is right xx
Our son stopped gaining at 9 months he wound up iron deficient and zinc deficient, get a blood panel for those! He got on supplements and started gaining weight and nutritionist is happy with his progress!
I'm sorry that your HV treated you like that. That's terrible and you should definitely report them if you can. I'm not sure where you are but my SIL used to give her little one Armor Body Meal Shakes and they helped him to gain weight. He was just so active and tall that he had a hard time putting on weight around 8 months. They also started giving him more mashed potatoes per their pediatrician for added bulk. He was not a picky eater so that wasn't an issue. Took him about 4 months to start putting on weight again. My little one is also slightly underweight but I don't worry about it as she eats 24/7 and she eats everything. They are just so active I think they burn it right off!
Can you report your health visitor for saying that? That must have made you so worried! My little boy had dropped centiles at his 10 month review as well, they said to weigh him again in 4-6 weeks but I haven’t been back yet. I think it’s because he’s active now (crawling and cruising). He eats really well (he even goes and finishes his big brother’s food after!), 3 meals a day plus usually a snack now and he breastfeeds 4 times a day and multiple times overnight. Have you considered getting advice from a breastfeeding support worker or lactation consultant? As I don’t think the dietitian can tell how much baby is getting from you! How many weeks pregnant are you? My supply did dry up around 16 weeks x
