Pretending to be a baby ?

Has anyone experienced where their child talks normally for their development and then around different people or throughout the day will act and talk like a baby out of no where. For example not saying full sentences however other times can say full sentences.

My son does this, but he does it with me, instead of with other people. He sometimes reverts to baby language and will act much younger than his age.

My daughter she's got a diagnosis of autism does this, she's 10 and will turn into a baby just making noises or 1 words and puts on a baby voice but just with me

Yup! My oldest twin does this around other people. For a while, the daycare didn't even think he spoke. Meanwhile, he talks my head off at home.

Thanks for all of your responses how do you guys deal with this ? Xx

@Lily🤍 I just allow her to do it. It's just how she feels that day, so whatever word she says ill respond or if its just noises I just say I can't understand x

@Lily🤍 I usually say something like "use your words" or act like I don't understand, and he'll straighten up.

@Lily🤍 I think he is usually trying to get my attention for some reason. I don't usually say anything, but do think about what it is he needs. Redirection helps a lot too.

Do you have a younger sibling ? My friends boy did this when he started school especially and he’s a fantastic speaker and she spoke to the health visitors and they said it’s actually quite intelligent because he’s aware that babies require more care and attention and is doing it to get that attention x

I’ve got a little girl as well. It’s more ever since she has been born he’s been like that. I usually will be like I don’t understand. But then he will continue to the point he will pretend to be pooing and weeing on the floor xx
