Is your lo talking yet?

My lo started talking a bit. He says short sentences and knows some basic words nothing crazy. However I keep hearing mixed opinions on this. My mil and some mums told me how he should be speaking a lot more by now and some mums told me it's completely normal and usually talk a lot more after 2? I'm not so worried about him as I know he will eventually talk but it seems like there's competition on who's kid can do better? I hope I'm not exaggerating it but that's how it feels..

Well my son doesn’t speak and doesn’t even say words! His only work is mum or mumma and not in context. When he started playgroup late last year I noticed many kids his age and older don’t say a single word also so the fact that your son is saying short sentences and knows basic words is great and he is right on track!

My girl is 18 months she says words but not sentences x

I have been told at this stage as long as they are saying a few words and have some understanding of what you are saying to them then that’s a great sign!

My girl says a few words - mama, dada ( but not always to the correct person), Baba (husband's family is Bulgarian, Baba is grandma in their native tongue), up, go, cat, op (oops) and doggy. She knows a few animal sounds but that's about it. My eldest spoke a bit more at her age but only a little bit, even after she turned 2 her speech was a lot less than others were saying. she's now 2y8m and speaks so much I wonder why I was worried! so I'm trying not to worry too much with my 18m. She was walking at 11m, communicates in other ways when she wants something, understands a lot of things and is very practical so I'm hoping her speech will come along when she's ready .

My girl says lots of single words and tries to repeat most words. And a couple of double words eg bye bye person or dogs name. Or hello person etc or ready steady go. But no whole sentences. She understands them though. It isn’t until closer to 2 or after 2 that’s they speak more in sentences.

Child combine 2 words at the age of 2. My Daughter combined 2 words . Like cheese please, help please when I instruct her to do soo. Its absolutely normal
