My aunt and step mum both had pre eclampsia confirmed after several tests and high BP readings so needed a planned c section. It all went smoothly.
I had exactly 2+ in my urine as well but no other symptoms like high blood pressure. Came back that I had a suspected urine infection. Tested again at the next midwife appointment and all cleared up on its own! Unless there are other signs of pre eclampsia the risk is very low and most likely urine infection. And I didn’t even have any symptoms of a urine infection either.
I had this and had a water infection. Literally went away after a few days.
If it’s high they will call you in for bloods and blood pressure checks more often. If they remain normal they will just keep an eye on things but if anything begins to change they can start to treat and then monitor appropriately. A lot of the time the protein in urine when you have normal blood pressure is from contamination or infection that’s not presenting with symptoms yet. Thrush is a common contaminant that a lot of midwives forget to ask about symptoms and a lot of patients don’t mention. Until you have any results I’d try not to worry about. If you do however get any headaches, blurred vision, pain under your ribs, significant swelling or concerns with baby’s movements make sure you give mau a ring and they’ll assess you again The results may take a few days to come back if the sample was sent as routine as the labs at Stoke only do routine testing for PCRs on certain days of the week and even if it’s sent as urgent the results probably won’t get chased until Monday
