C Section

Hello! I'm wondering if you're able to share your experiences of having a C section at Queens hospital. What should I expect on the day, during the procedure and after? What was the care like? Any tips? Thank you!

I had an emergency section 2 years ago…I’ll be honest. The bed freaked me out, but it was an emergency and I was worried. But they were brilliant. My bleeding after wasn’t bad at all, so to put things crudely, they did an excellent job of clear lung me out and making sure there would be no issues. Had to stay on the ward after for a week- I had caught and infection. (My fault I was ill anyway and worked 2 days before I went in) but they were thorough and very understanding. I will say they do check on you and baby every two hours, but after the infection started ease- they tried to time mine and babies at same time to avoid waking up as much. They were also very good at helping with baby at night, especially as she wanted to leave the room and I couldn’t carry her. Did have an issue with one midwife- who insisted when little one was crying I feed her and we got in an argument- baby was due a spinal injection and I was told not to feed her- I’m not a monsterbut Ashe was okay after

Hi, I had an emergency c-section at Queens just 2 months ago. I would say that my midwives and the doctors who looked after me pre and post birth were brilliant. It was unfortunate that I had c-section but I can’t fault the staff they were so caring and professional! In terms of the experience itself - it was so quick! The surgery was 20 minutes or so but the closing up took about 40 minutes (that’s what my husband said because I was so drugged out LOL). Went straight to HDU and spent my day there then I was transferred to post natal ward which is a lower risk ward when my vitals we’re settling down. I was there for 4 days. I had no issues as well with my experience. So hopefully you’ll have the same experience as mine or even better! Best of luck to you & your little bubba 🤍

Also to add: everyone’s experience is different so you just have to go in without any expectations. Again, prayers for the both of you!

I had one 3 months ago - the pre and during experience in my opinion was really good. I really didn’t want one but baby was measuring big. It went by so quickly, they took photos as soon as he came out, there was music playing (and you could choose your own) the doctors were laughing and it was a relaxed environment. IMO the after care was not great. They barely visited me or checked in, not sure if it’s because they saw I had a few visitors all the time so was never alone. The two nurses who helped me get out of bed for the first time were really lovely and I felt like they helped give me some kind of dignity as I waddled to the bath room! After about a week I felt good physically, could move around with a lot more ease!

I’m happy to go into detail about what happens on the day if you want to private message me xx
