@Amanda I would love to try something natural instead if you have any recommendations please let me know 🙏🏻
Gentle Home Remedies: Steam Therapy – Run a hot shower and sit with your baby in the steamy bathroom for 10–15 minutes to help loosen mucus. Saline Drops & Suction – Use saline drops in the nose followed by a bulb syringe or nasal aspirator to clear mucus. Hydration – Breastfeeding or formula helps thin mucus. If your baby is over 6 months, offer warm water or herbal teas like chamomile. Humidifier – A cool-mist humidifier in their room keeps air moist.
Natural Support: Baby Massage – Gently rub their chest, back, and feet with a baby-safe essential oil (like diluted eucalyptus or lavender). Warm Compress – Apply a warm towel to the chest and back to break up phlegm. Honey (for babies over 1 year old) – A small amount of raw honey can soothe the throat and act as a natural expectorant. Onion or Garlic in the Room – Cutting an onion or placing crushed garlic in a bowl near their crib can help clear airways naturally. Probiotics – If your baby is old enough for solids, fermented foods or probiotic supplements can support their immune system.
My baby just turned 6 months can I give her chamomile? And how much
Yes, you can give a small amount of weak chamomile tea to a 6-month-old, but only in moderation and with caution. Chamomile is known for its soothing properties and can help with digestion, mild colds, and sleep. How to Give Chamomile to a 6-Month-Old Brew it weak – Use 1/2 teaspoon of dried chamomile flowers (or a chamomile tea bag) in 8 oz of hot water, steep for 5 minutes, then cool. Offer only a small amount – Start with 1–2 teaspoons (5–10 ml) once a day. Use a spoon or bottle – Give it slowly to see how your baby reacts. Precautions: Check for allergies – If your baby has a family history of ragweed allergies, test with a tiny sip first. No honey – Avoid adding honey, as it's unsafe for babies under 1 year due to the risk of botulism. Avoid overuse – Too much herbal tea can replace breastmilk or formula, which should still be their main source of nutrition.
I would try hitting babies back while flat / slightly upside-down. Or take baby to dr and see what they recommend. I'm holistic so I would also give baby something natural (would have to do research and talk with my holistic midwife)
