Cluster feeding, using for comfort?

My LO is 9 weeks old and is combination fed BF and formula, offered 2 bottle formula a day (approx 7oz most days altogether). The last couple of days she wants to be constantly latched during the day (continuing to sleep 9 hours at night). However often when latched does not appear to be particularly actively suckling and swallowing. I feel our latch has always not been great and quite swallow but most of time at the moment seems to be pulling self further off and just attaching on the very end and sometimes feels to be using her tounge on the nipple, I then try to latch her properly again but she will pull back or stay properly latched but not suck at all. A few feeds a day we achieve a proper latch and actively feed but otherwise not sure if just using me for comfort, or is this a way to increase milk supply. Tried a few dummies but won’t take them. We’ve been close to switching to formula a few times now and this feels like another hurdle. I wanted to reach out if any one else has experienced this, is it just a phase, or is there anything a can try differently? We were just starting to get confident getting out and about but now she is screaming if she isn’t on me, not sure what to do 😬

She could be at her “fussy” phase of developmental leap 2? More clingy, more suckling (or just being by boob), more grumpy, more crying are all potential signals of it. Hopefully it will pass within a couple of weeks - there’s usually a period of time that feels like they’ve gone backwards when they are developing. You’ve got this mama 🫶 my little one is at the fussy stage of the first leap and it took me by surprise! I’d imagine if it’s purely milk/supply-related she would be attempting to actively suck and swallow

Thank you, I’ve just looked more into the leaps and it definitely sounds like it!

I’m trying an app called The Wonder Weeks. I think I’ll stick with it because I’m finding it very useful having some warning of roughly what to expect and an idea of the timeline 😅
