WWYD? Feel snubbed by boss?

I work in a large university. This week I attended the first ever forum on operational excellence. It was hosted by IT and Finance, so university-wide, not just my department or faculty. I was a presenter/had a booth at the “showcasing excellence” networking event. I was the only presenter from my department/entire faculty, and only 1 other person from my department attended (as just a regular attendee). Every Friday my boss sends a email to everyone highlighting things the team has done that week and upcoming events. She didn’t mention this at all in the email (this week or last week), even though the email often includes mentions when other’s have simply attended less impressive events (imo).

I work in higher education as well…sometimes they have a million wheels turning. Unless she’s just a bum boss, I would mention it.

@ALI the tricky part is that she’s going on vacation for two weeks starting Monday, but we do have a one-on-one scheduled for the 14th. She is generally a good boss, so maybe this just wasn’t on her radar, but then it begs the question why my direct manager didn’t hype it up a bit more. It’s not the first time my accomplishments have been overlooked 😔 It’s also a bit ironic because I actually did get a shoutout for another unrelated thing, so it’s not like I don’t get any recognition at all, but participating in this forum was a pretty big deal, so I think it’s a huge oversight on her part. I know I could’ve hyped it up more myself, and I did make a LinkedIn post, but self promotion vs recognition hits different.

Totally get it. Been there.
