We was the exact same the amino acid made my little boy 1000 times worse!!! He won’t sleep On his back or lie on his back and hasn’t for 7 weeks now! And was extremely unsettled which got worse with the amino acid formulas
3 weeks isn’t a lot for the milks. They can take 4-6 weeks to work. As is the same with the reflux meds. Are you using a thicker? The milk is so thin it may be worsening the reflux. I’d request to try omeprazole over gaviscon I’d try that first and then if there’s no improvement or symptoms worsen then request the amino acid formula
@Millie he had his tongue tie cut at 5 days old so I’m thinking that’s probably out of the question 😣
@Becky are you still having the same issue or have you resolved?
@Ceri-Ann I thought the same, I just don’t know how much longer I can take this for. I’m in bits every single day, I feel so helpless. I’m not using a thickener but only because I was advised that gaviscon thickens the milk? Thank you - I’ll try and push for omeprazole x
@Alex we tried every formula and non made him better so we’ve had to try going back to cows milk as his allergy wasn’t severe just hoping it was newborn rashes and colic to be honest he seems so much better minus screaming after some bottles (colic) we are only on day two so hoping we’ve got it right this time xx We tried everything from carobel to thicken alongside multiple other things xx
@Alex from my understanding (we’ve not used gaviscon) it doesn’t actually thicken it that much. We’ve found with the thicker we haven’t actually had to start any reflux meds We use carobel however some babies do react to that to so some use thick and easy or magic mix. We’ve got our carobel on amazon because I honestly couldn’t face another battle with the receptionist to get an appointment 🙈
@Alex ah probably then did you get some exercises to do with him to re train the tongue after the procedure
@Becky keeping my fingers crossed for you!!! Xx
@Ceri-Ann haha GP receptionists aye 😵💫 Defintely worth a shot! I hate the thought of him being on medication but I’m also so desperate to make him comfortable. Xxx
@Millie no…. It was just cut at hospital and that was that 😵💫 xx
@Alex ah that might be why, the nhs have quite a bad reputation for doing that, if you google oral play exercises you should find some that will help i went private for my sons and we were taught to run a finger across his gums to encourage him to move his tongue side to side, place an “O” ball in front of his mouth to encourage him to stick his tongue out, get him to suck a finger/dummy then pull it out to get him to try and suck harder and my little boy also has a high palate so we were told to massage the roof of his mouth to desensitise his gag reflex x
@Alex some of them after tongue tie also have additional tension in jaw and neck so an osteopath is definitely worth a go. Like @Millie we had our tongue tie done privately (the waiting list around us is pushing 6months!) and the after care and advice was far better than friends have had on the NHS
@Ceri-Ann yeah we are due to go and see an osteopath/chiropractor on 10th March so really hoping he can help xx
Have you looked into if he has a tongue tie if all the symptoms are wind/reflux related my little boy showed pretty much no signs of having one until 6weeks old, if theres also poo related problems i would definitely push for an amino acid formula x
