Braxton Hicks / Tightenings

Mine have been terrible too, especially the last couple of days. Still not painful though but much stronger and more often, normally I would be able to have some water and it would help but it’s not and I think it’s because I’ve started trying to harvest colostrum. When I asked the midwife she just said they getting stinger the further in you go. Unless they’re painful they’re still just practice Braxton hicks

@Kathryn Yeah, mine are pretty much the same, just a lot stronger than before, probably doesn’t help that he’s obviously growing and not much room to move and his movements often trigger them 🤣 I’ve not started collecting yet as not seen my midwife yet, seeing her on Tues so going to ask!

I’ve literally gotten nothing apart from one tiny drop I couldn’t actually save 🤣🤣🤣 I’ve only been trying twice a day but it sets my braxtons off so badly I just can’t do it more than that. I really wanted to get some and I know I’ll be disappointed but I also don’t want to push it because I have a planned c section and I don’t want to go into spontaneous labour!

I’m not sure triage would do anything for braxton hicks! They’re pretty standard. No harm in calling if it will reassure you though! Xx

@Madeleine Oh no I’m aware they can’t do anything haha. I just also know that people often mistake Braxton Hicks for labour pains / tightenings, and with the increase of them I was just curious 🙂 the thought of not knowing and mistaking it petrifies me haha x

@Kathryn Yeah definitely don’t push yourself! Just do what you can, I’ve heard lots of people struggling to start with, my nipples leak a lot but I’m sure when I try and get it into a syringe it’ll be difficult 🤣

You’ll know when it’s no longer Braxton hicks 🙈 braxton hicks can be quite relentless in themselves tbf! 😆

You wouldn’t be able to write messages on here in full blown labour 🤣🙏 I certainly wouldn’t be able to anyway! Haha. I felt like you the other day, was worried it was the beginning lol!

If your triage are helpful (mine never answer the phone 🥲) then I always say why not!! But yes like others have said…You’ll KNOW when they’re the real deal 🫣

If you really want them to get you in, just say you can’t feel the baby, mine start like that, and am always right with all my 5 kids, I always go once I feel that way and I refuse to come home and for sure that same night the baby comes. And am so glad I managed to guess with my 4 kids, because one my labor start, they are nonstop and I can’t imagine driving to hospital in that state.
