I agree with Sophie, give it to them for breakfast and then at lunch and dinner give them meals that are more filling. You say baby so I’m guessing weaning? For weaning it’s pretty fair game, ready brek in the morning, maybe some avocado on toast at lunch and some steamed veg and protein for dinner, the fuller they are before bed the more likely they’ll sleep all the way through. Babies don’t need complicated meals, my kids eat the same breakfast everyday but I try to mix up their meals
They need to get use to different tastes and textures x
Ready brek for lunch or dinner? You need to offer more tastes and textures for sure
Thanks for your replies, baby is nearly 11 months old and because he doesn’t sleep well our sleep coach said to give porridge for lunch or dinner as they are more filling closer to bed time. He will have this with banana and avocado. As he has a milk allergy and egg intolerance it limits the food he can have so breakfast we have yoghurt and fruit or weatabix and for lunch/dinner he has chicken, salmon veg toast etc so he does have other textures in the day. But my question was more is ready brek good for babies to have every day as it’s not baby porridge or organic.
Baby porridge isn’t good for babies anyway as it has no l nutritional value whatsoever. So I would choose ready brek. However, you can also give baby normal porridge and buy organic if you prefer too. You can also give pancakes if you make them dairy and egg free. My baby also has a dairy allergy so I understand. Your sleep coach is wrong, the whole “eat porridge” before bedtime etc certainly does nothing to aid sleep or get them to sleep longer. If babies wake up during the night to feed then this is normal and definitely good for their development. A lot of these “sleep coaches” target and make lots of money out of sleep deprived parents with no concrete evidence to their method. Might not be the case for yours but I would follow your instincts rather than someone telling you your baby should be sleeping through the night x
Thanks and yes I agree, I try to alternative between organic oats and ready brek but I’m trying to move away from giving this to him as a meal everyday! Tbh regarding the sleep coach we had a positive experience and we used the gentle method which worked for us but then his teeth started coming through we didn’t ever go back to re starting the sleep training but when you’re waking up every hour and working as well I wouldn’t say sleep training is bad for those who actually feel like their struggling and can’t be the mum they want to be as their so stressed and sleep deprived! X
Why not give them ready brek for breakfast and something else for lunch and dinner ?
