Pumping at work?

Going back to work in May and plan to continue breastfeeding. Do I ask for a pumping break or do I just let my body adjust to making less? It might be completely irrational but a part of me feels sad about having less milk?

Its your legal right to pump at work. Do read up on it lovely! Don't let your supply suffer if you don't want it to x

Thanks ladies! I know I am entitled to it. I was just wondering what other people are doing? X

I go back to work in 2 weeks. I won’t make it through the day without leaking and being so engorged that Im planning on pumping on my break. I’m dreading the whole thing to be honest and I’ve never heard of anyone that has returned to work breastfeeding that I’m feeling a bit embarrassed 😭😭

@Sara you shouldn’t have to use your break though! They should provide additional breaks specifically for pumping. Your break is for eating and resting! I feel a bit weird as well as well as I work in a school and I can’t remember any of the co workers that returned from Mat leave in the past mentioning pumping, but we are doing what’s best for our baby so that’s all that matters ❤️

Yeah I know they have to provide additional but I guess they would be unpaid and I don’t fancy having to stay longer to make time up or anything, get me out as quickly as possible haha. I have to change my hours to fit around feeding and I know I’m going to have a battle with that comments from colleagues but my baby is my number one priority and he has bottle refusal so although he’s going to be fine through the day managing with his meals and snacks, he needs me at night! I will let you know how it turns out for me with the pumping side of it xx

@Sara makes sense! I hope it all goes well and fingers crossed for you 🤞🏼 yes, let me know how it goes!!!

I returned on Monday and have been pumping twice while at work. My manager gives me an extra 15 minute break to pump in the morning, then I do my second while on lunch break. Hasn't affected my supply so far. You're entitled to pump at work but I believe your work doesn't have to pay you for it, it's just good practice to pay you if they do.
