Please help, feeling like a failure mum recently

My 17 months old just started nursery, and he catches bugs every single week, mostly ear infections. I am alone taking care for him as my husband is always at work. It’s really difficult, he is running a fever of 39 for a third night..I have to put tv on for hours when he is sick because I simply can’t do other staff I need to do for him. In addition to all that, he is not saying any words with meaning yet and dors not understand many commands (only give me). He is trilingual baby. I feel like I am failing and can’t help my baby develop properly, but I use tv because there is no other choice. I would love for him to quit those 3 days at nursery but my husband disagree. I am so lost. Can anyone relate?

Aw my love, the first month of nursery is like this and it sucks but it does get better. I wanted my son to quit when he went through the same thing but a. It actually builds their immune systems and b. He now loves nursery. You're not failing, juggling all the stuff is hard. If he is trilingual that must be hard for him and you because there is so many things happening in his brain. Does your husband work every night?

I wanted to take my son out of nursery. He did 2 trial days (got sick) then 2 full days and now sick. He's had earache, cold and now a chesty cough and missed his last 2 weeks of nursery because he's been so clingy, throwing up and refusing any food. He's then passed it onto me and I ended up with pneumonia and I'm petrified when he goes back this week he'll only be sick again. We saw a dr at a&e due to an emergency trip and she advised in a child's 1st year at nursery, the average amount they'll pick something up is 8 times but after that their immune system is really strong and the next bout of sickness (likely winter) they should only pick up the standard cold once if at all. It sounds horrible and I know it's hard but perseverance is key though it doesn't seem it right now coz eventually it'll happen whether it's nursery or school and school is harder to keep them off at home. Sending you lots of love mama xx
