Hi lovely, I am currently 21weeks and using cyclogest pessaries too but I do also have a stitch. I lost my first baby at 21+2 because I have an incompetent cervix (which I didn’t know about as I’be been born with it) It’s totally personal choice as I’ve heard different things about different people. I was the same as you the thought of having the stitch freaked me out but after having my cervix measured at 16 wks and learning that my cervix was already starting to shorten that was even more scary. I have been offered both treatments which has helped put my mind at rest. Plus the stitch isn’t as bad as you think, it’s uncomfortable for the first few days but I found I just had to rest and take it easy. Honestly I’ll do anything to make sure this little one gets here safe. Xx
I have private messages you xx
Hii hun, I’m 21 weeks and 5 days today. I was also getting my cervix measured bc of a late loss around this time last year, my 20 week scan was on the 11th and I literally had my cervix measured the week before and it was measuring fine, but on my 20 week scan she measured again just to make sure everything’s okay even tho I’m due another cervix check next month. I was actually measuring low even with taking my pessaries, so I went ahead with the procedure and I STILL take my pessaries. It sounds scary but honestly it’s so worth it bc they do numb you from the waist down so you don’t feel a thing! & they put a cloth across you so you don’t see what’s happening. My previous loss was at 19 weeks + 5 days, I’d say go ahead with it, I promise you won’t regret it and I’m sure these lovely ladies can agree too. All the best for the rest of your pregnancy hope it goes well xxx
I used cyclogest pessaries with my last pregnancy until 13wks, then had PPROM at 33+6. Baby thankfully now a healthy 17m old! This pregnancy I'm having cervix measured every 2 weeks to check its not opening etc - and taking cyclogest until 36weeks to try and avoid another preemie. I think it's definitely worth it. Only thing was i found using vaginally really really messy.. so would recommend using in back passage as no mess!
