I think you should do what's best for you as it is really draining and at the end of the day not matter how a baby is fed the important thing is that there fed. It's completely understandable because it's alot. It's your choice. Maybe wait a little or even combi feed as it sounds like breastfeeding is established. You could do both formula and breast.
Oh, bless you! Apparently this is quite normal at this stage. 😭 I have a similar issue, but my son combi-feeds so I can share feeds with my partner and get some rest.
I think it’s quite normal at least up till the first 6 weeks, but then everyone says it flips and becomes easier than bottle feeding. It’s their way of encouraging breasts to make more milk as they grow. However, I do wonder this myself and keep hand expressing at the end of a feed to check if there’s milk there still which there always is. Do you have any breastfeeding support near you? You could make sure they have a good latch and getting enough milk, breast stimulation whilst feeding to encourage flow, make sure feeding off one breast till the end so getting the fatty milk. But other then that you have to do what works for you both. I also combi feed, mainly a bottle before bed at 9pm as otherwise she’ll cluster feed till 12-1am and that way she’ll go a 3-4hr stretch. And then the option of bottle is there if I need a nap…or a shower and other half can feed her 😅 I fully in awe of EBF mums, but for me I can’t do it to myself 😅
Perfectly normal the first 6 weeks your supply is all over the place and baby is cluster feeding to regulate this it's such a hard few weeks but it gets so much easier when they get more into a routine of feeding. As long as baby is having wet and dirty nappies and gaining weight steadily then they are getting enough milk. Breastfeeding is a challenge but so rewarding Also may sound silly but make sure your burping them some people have this belief that breastfed babies don't need burping but they do
This was my life for 3 weeks. Shout out to the women that can do this for a year or so... because jeez! It was draining life out of me. Constantly would want breast milk. Hes now oj formula
