Support group for parents

Has anyone had any luck in joining a support group for parents taking care of children with ADHD etc? I've been googling options in my area and I'm hitting a roadblock. Today has definitely been a whirlwind of a day. I need support from moms who actually get the challenges of being a single mom trying your best to take care of a teenager boy with ADHD. He's literally been impulsive like crazy lately. It's like his behavior has been going backwards. It's been a rough few months 🥴

Have you tried contacting Missouri Family to Family? They are a part of Parent 2 Parent USA and have support resources for special needs parents. I am a part of Parent 2 Parent of Colorado as a member and as a support parent. You may also ask your state organization about local support groups in your state. https://www.p2pusa.org/parents/

My daughters school created a community group for all with adhd and autistic kid's parents and we created our own whatsapp group. Besides for theat, her school headteacher also participates in a regular podcast that we've found very useful. https://open.spotify.com/show/5PsFvb2fH2dZCewdwBkJ0y?si=cgQGg3pBTk2-ZaNhPOaGWA

@Fiona Thank you! I'm more near Illinois but St Louis Missouri is 20 mins away from me. I will look into it.

@Ghitta I love that support! My son's school is really helpful with his IEP and he's involved in chess club, and about to start soccer soon so it helps a ton. We are just lacking a parenting group. My son will be in high school in August so I will also check with his new school soon. Thank you!

@Tiara good luck. Its fairly easy to try and create your own. You can post in a school group, ask the school or post on Facebook community pages ask if people with similar kids needs nearby would like to join. And with time, it would grow. Good luck!
