I don’t understand, swallowing and gagging is the opposites and it is normal that they dont really eat. It is just for getting used to taste and texture.
I think is very normal!! Until year the principal food is the milk! In the beginning babies spits, make a lot of faces, gagging, etc. He need explore textures and flavors. You are doing a great job!
I’ve tried my little one with purée & finger food. He doesn’t swallow a lot at all, which is completely normal. But he definitely prefers holding the foods & having something to chew, the puree mostly got spat out!
Gagging and swallowing don’t work together. If he’s gagging then it’s highly unlikely he is swallowing. Does his tongue automatically just push the food out? If so then he isn’t ready for weaning. Otherwise you could look at baby led weaning instead of purees
