Doctors contacted child services

I honestly don’t know how I feel about this. I suffer from anxiety and I just gave birth to my little boy yesterday. I did it natural with not pain meds nothing so I felt everything. Well when it came time to push him out I started freaking out because of how much pain I was in and I made a few comments about not wanting to be in labor anymore and how I want him out of me and a few others. Well apparently the doctors and nurses thought it was concerning to make these comments so they contacted child services and I had to talk to them and now apparently I have to talk to CPS about stuff. I don’t understand how they can take things said in a heat of a moment from a woman pushing out an almost 7lb baby with no pain relief because they didn’t want to give anything that could affect the baby so close to birth. This also isn’t my first birth. I had my daughter at the same hospital 18 months ago and said some things too but they gave me some pain meds before I started pushing. I just want to know what you would have done in this situation.

I had to have a phone call with them about my rescue Rottweiler! The phone call lasted 5 minutes and they followed up the next day to close the case. I hope it goes ok 🤍

It is normal they did it and if you have nothing to worry about the case will be closed in no time.

This is crazy what is wrong with them !

What other comments did you make? Because I'm pretty sure every woman gets to the point where they say they don't want to be in labour any more, CPS wouldn't be involved just because of that

@Sophie I didn’t make comments that my husband said would warrant them doing this. I did start having a panic attack mid way through it but nothing I said was out of line from what I remember and what my husband heard. He even told the child service woman that.

Im so sorry they put you in that situation. Every birth is hard and I think they should know we say things we didn’t mean to. I hope CPS understands why you made those comments and close the case.

If you say anything on their checklist that is triggering they have to call. Don’t blame them. They are just doing their job. Thankfully they call for all those trigger words and circumstances.

well I wonder what your “few other” comments were, cause saying you don’t want to be in labor anymore=you need a break, it’s hard! and you want this baby out of you=you want the pain over with cause it’s hard! neither of those in my non-medical eyes leads to you wanting to harm yourself or the baby, but if you said something in another comment then sure. but based on those two alone (and possibly your tone of voice? if you were extremely aggravated and they were worried your aggression might be directed at the baby? idk I’m reaching here) I wouldn’t see an issue and no one would’ve been called. hopefully it goes smoothly soon

They're doing their job, I wouldn't take it personally

This is not surprising. They are always quick to call CPS on folks. It’s frustrating and annoying and there isn’t much to do. I would write a report or review on the hospital about their insensitivity towards you but at this point, just do your best and it should be a quick case and they should close soon. Sending you hugs and sorry you had to deal with that.

Sorry to hear … i feel the pain my third baby is 7 mnths now an i felt lik this in labour with her i felt everything the pain was awful gas an air didnt help at all !! I even wanted to cry i said i cant do this nomore its natural for us women durin labour they had no right to contact child services i would complain an put a complaint in u aint the only women an u wont be the last im sorry uv been treated lik this. Is there a complaint room at hosp ? Id moan anou the staff aswell they should call them up an have a meeting with them x

If there is nothing to worry about, then just let them crack on. If there’s issues and things they are concerned about, you should accept support offered. Maybe there’s things you can’t see which they can.
