Crawling

Help I’m worrying! My little one is nearly 10 months and isn’t interested in crawling she will just sit content playing. She will stand on her feet well holding onto furniture or my hand but isn’t pulling herself up. Should I be concerned with the no crawling?

Following as in same position with 9 month old

Same boat. I'm not worried yet xxx

I met a mum who said 2 of her children skipped crawling, they went from sitting to standing and walking, and they turned just fine, they’re 12 and 16 years old now

Some babies will skip crawling and go on to walking just fine, I wouldn't worry.

Mine wasn’t pulling up, I got him a little soft play steps and ramp set and within a week he was standing. I know some people can’t fit it in the house but if you can would be worth thinking about. He now’s loves climbing up it and rolling down the ramp

I think it will be hard for her to crawl if she is sitting up. Is she going to sitting up position by herself or are you putting her? I would suggest a lot of tummy time, position the toys a bit far to encourage her to move and reach them

Exactly the same here with my girl. Shes 10 months next week. I’m going to spend the next week in doors a lot to give her maximum floor time, but I’m not necessarily concerned, I just want her to be confidently moving for nursery x

I could have written this post about 3 weeks ago….. then suddenly she just started wriggling. She’s not crawling yet, but she’s up on all 4s and falling in the direction she wants to go or rolling to the other side of the room. I wouldn’t worry at all, she’ll just get going when she’s ready!

My little girl is 10 months and she is exactly the same. I was tarting to worry so I’m glad I have seen this that I’m not the only one. I thought I was doing something wrong xxx

I looked up a few things just to encourage our 9 month old to crawl and within a couple of weeks she has started crawling. I know some say they can skip crawling but it is actually an important milestone for them to reach (just google the reason why and there are multiple). What really helped us was putting her legs in a “froggy” shape so she was in the correct position and rocking her like that when she’s on her tummy. We also helped strengthen her arm muscles by doing gentle wheelbarrows with her. When she’s in tummy time you can also gently go under their shoulders and pull them forward - this should help them put their legs in the right position (all of the above is on a baby physio site) xx
