CMPA? Help 😔

We are lost with our LO. He is 8 weeks old (formula fed) and it’s been almost 4 weeks that we struggle with feeds. He is struggles with gas, fussiness and thrashes at the bottle even though he is clearly hungry. He also has bad reflux which worsened on the 6th week. He was much worse with Kendamil so we changed to SMA Advanced which is a gentler formula but is still crying inconsolably in the late afternoon/evenings. He has also been congested with a stuffy nose from his second week onwards. The GP keeps ruling out CMPA because he does feed and is gaining weight normally but something tells me it cannot be that we have a battle each time we need to feed and he cries in pain. Something is not letting him feed normally. However, he is also going through the weeks of colic peak and digestive development so I am confused if that just may be it?

My LO was the exact same. She cried that much we went to A&E which the paediatrician finally diagnosed CMPA. So much better now she’s on prescribed milk.

She also was gaining weight just fine so I would get a second opinion and demand things are investigated xx

@Caitlin thank you!

@Caitlin was your LO okay during her night feeds? Ours is miserable during the late afternoon/evening but after bedtime he feeds well during night feeds

She was always worse on evenings and would only settle laid on her side. Look into the witching hour aswel! Xx

same as what Caitlin said, get a 2nd opinion. Our little boy is 7 weeks and has CMPA, doctors wouldn’t take us seriously until he had blood in his nappies. Unfortunately GP’s aren’t specialised in that area. Trust your gut, you know your baby better than anyone xxx

@Alex thank you! I agree. GPs have been really dismissive so far and barely know anything about baby allergies/nutrition

@Caitlin yes me too a&e pediatrics confirmed mine to, I'd go there. Or tell the doctors you want to try the dairy free milk to rule it out, so sometimes putting your foot down with doctors works instead of being fobbed off x
