Breastfeeding and eating

Is anyone else the type to find it super hard to feed yourself. Like you just used to go a full day without really eating? How are we now pushing through that bad habit for the sake of being able to breastfeed? Don't get me wrong it's not all the time but some days I just can't be bothered/have no energy/the thought of food is so off putting. But then I feel so guilty because I don't want to be impacting my baby.

I’ve had plenty of days like this! And today has been one of them! I’ve had 5 chicken stripes today and that’s it 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Kat today's been one of those days for me also. I've had 5 fish fingers and some peanuts 😮‍💨

I used to /forget/ to eat but now I am constantly RAVENOUS. most of the time I'm thinking about what I can eat. I'm always hungry. most of my energy goes to making breastmilk 😭 and we really can't afford my appetite rn. interesting to see the other side of things

I feel you! But then I have days where my partner will take my LB off me after having him on me for a few hours and I’ll be raiding the cupboards 😂

@Finn the thing is I can be hungry and wow so so thirsty but the idea of eating food is just off putting idk how it makes sense but yeah. I never know what I want I just want something but when I try to think of different foods I could eat it all fails there and I end up not eating properly because everything just doesn't sound appealing

yes it was really bad when i first had my baby..i’ve gotten better since then. some days i eat alot, like today i’ve eaten 4 times and plan to eat one more meal before bed. other days i might just have a bowl of cereal. i think for me though i eat based off of whats in the kitchen. i try to keep mixed nuts and water by my side on days i don’t feel like eating

I totally understand that, that's how I was for the first 3 months 😭. I now have staples that I always keep around: Greek yogurt, some sort of fresh fruit, peanut butter, Bagels, and hummus. I usually want/tolerate one of these. hope your appetite gets better (I think wanting food is a part of appetite?)

So glad it’s not just me😅. Little snacks that have a lot of protein (protein balls & nuts usually). Try to have something with protein in the morning to, usually eggs and cottage cheese in some form. If I can’t really do food I try to go for some form of protein drink bc it’s better than nothing

I barely eat some days or drink water because I forget 😭 if it wasn’t for my oldest I might not eat at all

Focusing heavily on intaking protein in any form I can get it. Snacks like nuts n stuff I also listen to my body, and get whatever I’m craving because that makes eating much more tolerable in general

I completely understand u aren’t alone lol! I’m constantly rather thirsty than hungry. When I first had my son I was sooooo thirsty and not eating as much but then it catches up an I started pumping more recently too so I’m literally like a scavenger lol

@Gianna yes I'm soooo thirsty. Some days it does get to me and Im super snack-ish but it's faded a lot this past week and I'm struggling

Try to keep snacks or freezer to microwave type Meals on deck. A carry a water bottle with u throughout day that’s what I do. How far into breastfeeding are you? It could be some stress too is everything going well with breastfeeding like any pain or anything?

@Gianna We're 2 months in now and I have stresses about supply at times and just other thing in life. I do try to keep my bottle nearby but with snacks I go to the shop and have the same issue of nothing seeming appealing ☠️
