@Jenny have you tried putting a bassinet in the next to me crib? My little one cries as soon as she is placed in the next to me, but I think it's because it's too big for her. I spoke to both my health visitor and a few friends and they all suggested placing the bassinet in the next to me. It has worked wonders and I now get 1-3 hour sleeping stretches from her. X
I find staying awake during feeds the hardest part and have crippling anxiety that I'm going to fall asleep. Although, at the moment my baby seems to alternate days - tonight she won't cluster feed, but tomorrow night she will. X
Hi everyone! Pleased I'm not alone but sorry so many of us are not sleeping. Yep we have the exact same issue with the next to me, she absolutely hates it and refuses to be in there. Think we are going to give a bassinet a try! How is everyone passing the time/keeping awake? I am currently tag teaming on sleep with my partner where he will hold her while I get some sleep and then I feed whilst he does. Dreading him going back to work in 2 weeks!
It’s not the feeding that’s my problem it’s her winding I’ve been sat here for an hour she will be wanting skitter feed before I can get back to sleep.
@Becky my partner and I are doing shifts. He allows me to sleep from 8/9pm-11/12am depending on baby girl. For the second part, I then move down into the living room with her and do the rest of the night. I find the living room is best as I will stand to feed her and watch TV, I'm closer to snacks and can make cups of tea which always keeps me awake. I then just sleep on the sofa, which to be honest, is far more comfortable than the bed as I had a c-section. X
Currently in hospital as my 9day old had a high temp earlier. Not settling in the massive cot and with obs every hour definitely no sleep for us. Really regretting letting so many people meet her now 😭
@Elzie so sorry to hear this. I really hope she recovers quickly. Lots of love 🤍xx
@Siobhan my son was hard getting wind up and infocol every other feed alongside the bum wiggle trick ( TikTok it) works amazing majority of the time x
Oooo no I hadn't tried that yet @Emily will give it a go thanks. How old is yours now? We're only 2/ 3 days so she's not been in the bassinet yet🫣🤞 @Becky yes trying to tag team tonight every couple of hours, hoping my milk comes in mon/ Tues so I can do some proper expressing for hubby to do night feeds 👀 began the panic earlier that I hadn't got enough frozen syringes so keeping everything crossed really don't want to do a 3am formula run to asda 🤞
@Emily ooh how do you do it with arms out? I've only seen ways for arms in
Cluster feeding over here 🙋🏼♀️ worst thing is I’ve stopped breast feeding and now only pumping but he still craves the comfort - latching issues combined with the cluster feeding made BF too much of a mental toll for me We’ve currently resorted to a dummy when he craves that feeding time as otherwise he was over feeding with formula Partner has been fantastic he just finds it tough when I’m in bed and the baby won’t settle - yes this stuff is hard
@Emily that's so cute! We've got one of the tommee tippee swaddle sleep bags that have poppers for arms in/out. Maybe we'll graduate to a muslin when she starts hating it 👀😂 x
Yes! I feel your pain! I am feeding bub laying on my side, that way even if I can't sleep at least I can dose whilst he's feeding. Look up lullaby trust/safe sleep 7 before attempting this though, last thing youd want is to fall asleep in an unsafe way.
@Jess I am seriously considering stopping, it's so so hard. Her latch is good but the mental toll is A LOT and I'm also fairly sure I'm already getting blockages (LO is 3 days old today) and am terrified of mastitis to add to the c-section pain! How did you stop?

Yes lol at this exact moment
@Monica hi! How old is your baby? Hope you are feeling ok!
@Emma yep tried infacol today but nothing been doing all the moves even massage I learnt with my first but still takes ages to get anything
Safely co sleeping and been fine so far thankfully! However day time he hates his crib/ basket and swinging chair so far he wants cuddles x
@Becky I’ve not fully stopped yet, I’m currently using an electric pump - finding it tough around visitors so I’ve got a wearable one to wear today As it stands I’m able to get him 1 bottle a day from the pump which I think is better than nothing I’ve got a call with a midwife today after a follow up from a visit for breastfeeding on Friday so going to see if they suggest stopping entirely or keeping going with pumping Have you had a midwife visit yet? They should be able to help and offer advice and reassurance 😊
Yes. It is exhausting. I'm just getting sleep whenever I can like in the day to survive the nights but I am surviving off small amounts of sleep here and there. Even if he isn't cluster feeding his sleep stretches are very short at this age. I'm also cosleeping (following lullaby trust safe cosleeping guidelines) when he isn't feeding in the night as this baby will not go down for sleep at all and needs to be in contact for with us at all times.
@Jenny we have just started using our tomertippe grow bag and it’s a game changer (0-6m) one. She transfers back into next to me cot much better as there’s not a temp change. She’s 3-4 weeks old and was too small before.
@Becky 5 days today!
Also struggling with my newborn! She doesn’t let me put her down in her basket to sleep. She wants to be held and is constantly using breast for comfort or feeding.
Yes, she doesn’t do it in the day time but at night time this girl is HUNGRY!😭
We are! She just won't sleep in her next 2 me, has to be held. Trying the swaddle sleep bag tonight. Got a whole 20 minutes without her complaints but not working now 😆 You OK?
