Co-sleep or move to own room?

My almost 6 month old has slept in our room in a bassinet. He has strong neck control and ran roll both ways. My husband has been bringing his bassinet mattress into our bed (it’s a lot firmer than our bed) and letting him sleep with us the last couple of nights. I’m worried that if we start letting him sleep with us, it will be hard to transition him out. My mom recommending that we transition him to his own room now. What is your experience with co-sleeping or moving to their own room? His bassinet mattress takes up about 1/2 the bed. If we let him co-sleep, it is too dangerous to let him sleep on our soft bed directly?

My daughter has been sleeping in our bed since she was 3 months old. She is now 20 months. She has had head control since she was 2 months and will turn when she needs to. But if you can have him sleep in his own room early, why not give it a shot. It will help you in the long run.

if you can get a pack and play with a mattress I recommend that, it’s bigger and gives them room to move. I wasn’t ready to move him to his room yet (he’s 5 months) so he stays next to us in the pack and play!

my baby is 3 months and is way too big for her bassinet. we’re going to get a mini crib for our room bc i’m just not ready. maybe that could work for yall? i’m guilty about co sleeping though. with my first i didn’t get her out of my bed until she was 3 when my 3 month old was born. i’d avoid it if you find an alternative.

We were worried about SIDS so we kept our son closer to a year but I convinced my husband for me to put in own room at 10 months, because he was able to sit up, crawl and sit to stand, that made me feel better about him sleeping solo in room. It was successful

@Adriana Which pack and play and mattress do you have? I want to do this for mine but there are so many options. I would love any suggestions!

We are 7 months here and She still gets at night so I’ve worried I won’t wake up to her so we going to keep her in our room at least until one
