Food over milk?!

My boy is 7 months at the beginning of march and these last few days he’s been hardly drinking his milk other than 9oz at bedtime but he’s been having food absolutely fine? I am offering milk as normal and the only reason I’ve given more food is incase he is actually hungry but doesn’t want milk… turns out he’s just preferring food!? I guess this is ok?… He’s teething which I know some babies go off their milk then but I assumed he wouldn’t eat either but he is😅

Id say just keep regularly offering milk as it's still supposed to form most of their diet until a year old but if he prefers food there's not much you can do! X

As he's preferring food over milk I would also add milk (you can add formula or cows milk) to stuff like weetabix for breakfast or porridge. Stuff like that so that he gets some more in if you aren't doing that already xx

@Georgie oh yes still doing it as often as I normally would he just seems to be taking less but enjoying his food more!🤷🏼‍♀️ But yeah as I mentioned he’ll have 9 if not 10oz before bed!

@Emma thank you! He’s not having nothing I offer 6 and he’s probably only having half whereas he’d usually down it but then I’m offering food at “food times” and he seems to be enjoying that more.. I mean I guess he’s having half milk half food ?🤣🤣 if that makes any sense 🤣🤣

That makes sense. To be fair no one gives us a manual for this sort of stuff! It's hard to figure it out. I went by the logic of that if my LG was missing anything vital from diet I would see it in terms of a deficiency that I could correct so I've always gone by the "if she looks happy and healthy she must be okay" and then mention it to the HV on check ups just for a second opinion. X

@Emma well exactly I’m thinking well he’s happy enough ok he’s teething to grizzly but everything else with him seems ok and I think I’d definitely know if he was hungry!!

My little one is exactly the same, also 7months and loves his food more than his milk x

@Kirstie glad to know I’m not the only one! He’s had pasta bolognese for dinner, some cucumber, and a yoghurt just for his dinner yet wouldn’t touch his milk this afternoon!! (He’s also had porridge and other bits today!!)

Mine got a little fussy around milk and bottles when she was getting her incisors around 8 months, didn't affect her food, though. Could be teething related.

@Melissa I think it’s definitely that too!!
