Private Scans

Hi everyone!! Just wondering if people are having private scans before their first 12 week scan?? I went for one at 6 weeks and saw the heartbeat and have just booked in for another one on Wednesday (I’ll be 9 weeks) I can’t decide whether it’s excessive for normal?? I just want to make sure everything is looking normal in there 🥹 I’m also getting in my own head about everything so feel it’s a good way of putting my mind at ease???

I was very paranoid with my first and had 4 private scans. I’m 10 weeks now and I’ve had 2 so far. NHS is at 13 weeks so I’m hoping I can hold off. The first trimester really is the worst. You’re not doing anything wrong, don’t let people make you feel bad for being worried about your baby x

We done one at 6 weeks then one at 9. We also done a private gender scan at 16 weeks and a 4d scan at about 25 weeks. It’s completely normal. I loved the extra scans. Yes they are pricey but I felt they were so worth it x

I had a few extra scans in both my pregnancies. I found them very reassuring!

I had a scan at epu at 6 weeks, then they called me back at 7 weeks, I also had another one with my ivf clinic at 7 weeks. And then I paid privately for one at 10 weeks and again at 11 weeks (this one was due to really bad cramps so I was worried) I think there’s nothing wrong with regular scans as long as it puts your mind at ease. My 12 week nhs scan is tomorrow so yeah I’ve had quite a few!

I’ve had 2 private scans and another one booked for the end of the week, the anxiety is overwhelming when it comes to pregnancy after loss😅 Ultrasound scans aren’t dangerous for you or baby, so I’m all for having them done when you want/need them as long as you can afford it and it doesn’t become an unhealthy obsession xx

I had nhs scans at 5 & 7 weeks, then had a private at 10, my next nhs is booked for 13 weeks.

This is perfect. That’s what I did! Once you get to around 9 weeks with heartbeat small chances of miscarrying xx 6-7 weeks to confirm the pregnancy and a heartbeat. Around 9 weeks to confirm baby heartbeat is still beating. 12 weeks nhs scan.

I had only one scan at 8 weeks, but I did also do the NIPT test which was so reassuring and now I am so confident the little baby girl will be all right in there :) do whatever feels right for you

I did exactly the same, one at 6 weeks which confirmed heartbeat and just had one at 9 weeks. There's no way I could wait until 12 weeks. As my dad told me, peace of mind is worth an awful lot ❤️ we could afford it and it helped reduce my anxiety so it's 100% worth it and I wouldn't worry if others think it's excessive

@Marija how do you know gender already! Jealous x

@Emma i did the NIPT test. You can do it from 10 weeks :)

@Marija oh I didn’t realise that also can tell the gender!

@Emma yup! They look for chromosome abnormalities but also confirm the gender. If they find a Y chromosome anywhere then it’s a boy and if not it’s a girl :)

I’m waiting for my 12 week scan 🥰
