Private Scans

Hi everyone!! Just wondering if people are having private scans before their first 12 week scan?? I went for one at 6 weeks and saw the heartbeat and have just booked in for another one on Wednesday (I’ll be 9 weeks) My mum and Auntie are saying it’s excessive and I should just be waiting until my NHS ones as they did in the 90s… I can’t decide whether it’s excessive or actually quite normal?? I just want to make sure everything is looking normal in there 🥹

I'm booking 1 before my 12 week scan It's actually today !! Then probably one at 16weeks for gender And 1 or 2 later on in pregnancy

I had one at 7 weeks and booking in one for 9 and a half. I love seeing my little one grow and making sure it’s healthy. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Especially in the earlier days!

I had one at 7 weeks, got one booked for 9 weeks and depending when the midwife tells me when my NHS one will be (some trusts do the 12 week scan between 11-14 weeks) then I’ll book one for 11 weeks as well 😄

I have a private one booked at 8 weeks as my first one, and then NHS 12 week one. My parents also thought it was a bit much, and were worried it could get my hopes up too much. I’m still going for a little reassurance as I’ve seen nothing at all yet, but also have it in the back of my mind that still nothing is for certain this early.. (I’m currently 7 weeks)

If you have the financial means to do it regularly, why not?! You’re just excited and want to know (and see) that baby is growing and developing well. For my first, I had many private scans to check that everything was going well (it took us many years to conceive so I was always scared of losing the baby).

I’ve got one at 6+4 with the epu and will be booking another before my 12 week one. There’s no harm in it at all and it’s nice to have the reassurance x

I’m the same as you and I had one at 6 weeks but that’s because I had a bit of bleeding. Booked another one for when I’ll be 9+4 just for peace of mind really. I’ve been told it’s excessive and a waste of money too but you can’t really put a price on reassurance and being relaxed can you.

I think it’s very difficult to wait until 12 weeks. Especially when we’re told miscarriage is most common before 12 weeks. I have one booked for when I’m 9 weeks. I don’t think it’s excessive at all, do whatever makes you feel comfortable x

I have one booked for 6 weeks and I will absolutely be booking at least one more before my 12 week scan too! It’s a long time to wait feeling anxious the whole time so if some extra scans help give us some reassurance then I don’t see the problem!!

We had one on Saturday with Ultrasound Direct. Got some pictures and little video of the heartbeat 💓

In my previous pregnancy I had private scans at nearly 5+5, 7+3 & 16 weeks! I’m about 4 weeks now but planned one for 7 weeks x
