Dummy and Sleep

We introduced our little boy to a dummy when he was a couple of weeks old to help settle him after feeds as he has reflux. He was using the dummy at night but it was never an issue if it came out at night. He is now 4 months old and wakes up nearly every hour throughout the night crying until either my partner or I puts the dummy back in, he then falls straight asleep. We tried giving the dummies up completely and using other methods to soothe him to sleep but none of us were getting any sleep and he screamed all night. We are exhausted! 😩 any tips or ideas to help with this? We are trying to teach him to put the dummy back in himself but he is still a bit too young to find a dummy in his crib, even if we put plenty in there for him to find.

I'm having the same problem 😩 I wish I never introduced it!

Sorry to say you probs just need to ride it out until he’s old enough to put it back in himself. I always find it’s ‘mean’ to take something away that gives them comfort before they are old enough to understand better but that’s just personal opinion

@Hannah me too! 🫠 pleased to hear it’s not just us!

The one thing I found amazing was glow on the dark dummy’s. My little girl started finding hers herself and putting it back in as she was able to see it x

@Dani great idea! Thank you

Remember this stage well. It’s exhausting but like everything else it will pass but probably not until babe can replace the dummy themselves. I can’t tell you the relief and joy you will feel when they start doing that! There is also an awful regression around 4 months which may be contributing x
