Sleep advice please

I am struggling so much with little boy right now. Every nap time and bed time is a nightmare. He gets really emotional at night and cries when it’s bedtime, and nap time he just lays in bed singing and doesn’t want to sleep I’ve tried all sorts with both sleep times, dropping his nap made him super moody and then he would wake frequently throughout the night. I’m consistent with the times I put him down and I’ve tried adjusting earlier and later but it doesn’t make a difference. It’s really stressing me out because I just don’t know what to do. Having read through this group I can see I’m not the only one who’s battling with sleep but if anyone has any more suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance x

How long has it been going on? It sounds like what my son did during a regression, which lasted over a month or two. I just tried to stick with his usual routine, put him down for naps and if he didn't want to sleep, just allowed it to be some quiet time for him instead (and myself 😂) and then put him to bed around 6ish to lessen the overtiredness. I did end up capping his nap at an hour though soon after as two hours was affecting his ability to sleep at night. Does he sleep in the car or pram at all too?

It’s been going on for a couple of months now, maybe capping the nap to an hour will help because he does sometimes nap for about 2 hours when he eventually goes to sleep. Although at nursery it’s about an hour 15 usually and he will still fight bed time. He won’t sleep in the pram but does sometimes fall asleep in the car ( I don’t drive my partner does). We keep saying we hope this is just a phase 🤣

My boy only naps at nursery now and they cap his nap to an hour unless we say in the morning he's had a bad night so will be more tired (only had to do that twice). On our home days he gets through till 4-5pm no issues then starts to get tired but if we plan something exciting (like play doh or painting for him) for then it keeps him going until bedtime at 6-7pm. I think he was young to drop his nap but bedtimes are so much better now so might be worth a try 🤞
