MIL kissed my baby on his LIPS

I’ve always had an issue with my MIL kissing my baby boy as she just smothers him and it makes me uneasy anyway but I let it slide. However today at lunch she was kissing him all over again and then planted a fat one lip to lip with him! I lost it 😩 I told her not to kiss him on the lips and she then asked why, I told her she shouldn’t be kissing a baby anyway but especially not on his mouth and she just got a bit awkward and moved on. Then to say goodbye she’s kissing him all over his face 🙄 and then his hands (just as bad his hands go in his mouth!) Tbh I’m very relaxed about most things but I really draw the line at kissing him on the lips. 1) it makes me feel uncomfortable and tbh that should be reason enough 2) how to I know she isn’t carrying any viruses e.g herpes Girls please tell me I’m not over reacting and any advice on how I should follow up?

Totally agree - I'd feel the same if that happened. She should be aware and wise enough not to kiss him on his face and kissing on the lips is totally inappropriate

It's a grandparent thing....personally I would speak to her and say kiss him but not on lips, give her the reason why.

Absolutely not! I don’t even kiss my daughter on the lips and since I was pregnant o made sure to tell everyone no one kisses my daughter because if she gets sick, it’s their fault!

Nope, not ok and if you’ve told her no before and still does it it’s unacceptable this is how babies get very sick!

Absolutely NOT! No one should be kissing your baby on the lips apart from you if you choose to Stand your ground

Can’t stand this. And when you tell people of the older generation they act like it’s a new thing 😤

@Pea I know right, but my mum totally respects it and says that it was a thing back when she had me and my brother in 1993 & 1995 so I don’t know what my MIL’s excuse is 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks everyone, glad I’m not being over the top. I really am quite chilled about everything else but kissing on the lips is just a hard no for me 😩
