How old is baby? Newborn? Infant car seat can click in and out so it’s easy to bring baby in and out of car. But it only lasts so long depending on how fast baby grows. I used infant car seat first and then a grow with me
I had my babies in winter so the infant carrier was great because I could easily grab and go or keep it inside to be warm. That's honestly the only reason I used them! I guess you could argue the same thing for summer by keeping it inside and cool
Not all newborns fit properly into 3in1 seats so you'll need to be cautious about that if you choose a 3in1
We had both and 1000% infant for us. It's just so much easier to carry them in the beginning and you can pop them in and out of the car or a stroller without waking them, and bring them in to transfer them to sleep with as little disruption as possible. We ended up giving the grow with me car seat to my godmother who watches our LO occasionally and buying a 360 rotating seat for our car as she grew because it was so much easier to get her in and out of than the Extend2Fit we had!
@Megan you can use rolled up receiving blanket wrapped up on either side of them if they are too small. I was given this advice from a certified professional who knows this and is active in her field
The 3-1 is the most practical for financial reasons since if you get an infant one you most likely will need to get a 3-1 anyways for the rear-facing position. An infant is only practical if you want to be able to lift it out of the car to go to appointments and have to carry the baby long distances and need one hand at least free. So, it’s more about how much you want to spend.
@Mary I was referring to height, on some convertible seats the lowest setting is to high for shorter babies making the seat unsafe
With the 3 in 1 it does get a bit more pricey (depending which you buy) but at least you won't have to worry once your child reaches the next step since you will already have it. I've always bought and gift a 3 in 1 to family and friends.
