Gestational diabetes after birth

Ladies, I had gestational diabetes while pregnant however following the birth of my little one, no one cares, there hasn’t been any follow up. Does anyone know what I need to do to check and make sure that I no longer have it?

You are supposed to get a blood test 13 weeks pp, I had to call and chase my gp for this. After that, I was told that you get an annual blood test for 5 years.

I was told I’d need a test 3 months afterwards but they don’t do anything before that

You need to be re tested around 6-13 weeks after birth and if that is normal you should get tested every 1-3 years after due to now having increased risk of having type 2 diabetes.

Contact the GP and ask for a blood test to check for it. You're supposed to have this at around 12 weeks. They also recommended having one at a year pp too but I never had that one and didn't have GD with my second x

Call you GP and ask for the blood test. My midwife said often these appointments fall off the radar, so defs call and get it booked in
