@Georgina I have mine on Monday! Seen loads of videos about how the drink is horrible and makes you feel really unwell 😂🥲
Oh goodness no it’s fine, just a sugary drink. Bit of water afterwards and the taste is gone. Makes you wonder how these people will cope with labour 😂
I had mine on Thursday, honestly people made it sound awful - I was very pleasantly surprised! The drink was quite nice since you have to fast - better than drinking nothing 🤣 and blood tests are just like they normally are. I downloaded a few episodes of something funny on my phone and took a book, wasn’t bad at all, good luck xx
^^ sorry my message above is maybe a little harsh 🙈 you’ll be fine love xxx
@Georgina my goodness you’re so right,I was worried buh it was just the hunger other than that just that drink that I felt was great anyway, coz it saved my life,I was so hungry 🤤
Thanks girls! Good to hear it’s not that bad, don’t have to stress about it the night before 😂
No! It’s really not as bad as people make it out to be! I read all sorts of things beforehand, and to be honest, I have no idea what all the fuss is about. For me, it was practically a wellness treat - three hours in hospital instead of chasing my toddler around. I went in, had my blood taken, drank a pre-bottled raspberry syrup, then sat and read for two hours before another blood test. That’s it. Unless someone has a particular fear of needles or blood tests, it’s a really simple and straightforward procedure. I didn’t find it uncomfortable at all.
My midwives let me go home - but that means I go back to work for two hours and then back again 😆😆
I had this drink (St Thomas’ Hospital in London) This syrup contains lemon juice as well, which probably makes the taste much more pleasant. If you don’t get one like this, I’d recommend adding a few drops of lemon juice, it makes it totally fine. https://unahealth.co.uk/product/oral-glucose-tolerance-testing/
Thank fully I don’t have to have it but sadly that’s because I’m already diabetic and I’m already on insulin 4 times a day and metformin twice a day my last baby I had at 36 weeks and he weighed 7lb 3oz, I had a scan last Friday and he’s at the right size for my gestation so hopefully I’m doing everything right x
Had it with my first and it was fine - and I'm not good with blood tests! The drink they gave me tasted exactly the same as a Capri sun x
I had one with my first pregnancy not been offered this time around, I didn’t find it bad at all, maybe just annoying you can’t eat for a while and get hungry. Everyone’s different but didn’t make me feel sick x
I haven’t yet, got it at 28 weeks but had it with my first. The test itself if absolutely fine (I mean a blood test is a blood test, never pleasant but fine). It was the results I feared most as I am loving my carbs 😂😂
