I first experienced this when I was pregnant but it was only with tap water. Now I can’t with any.
@Zainab🗝️ Interesting, all types of water? How have you managed all these years?
@Izzy I can do electrolytes otherwise my water has coffee or tea in it. I drink one glass of plain water with my medications
My Dad hasn’t drank any plain water his entire life 😂
I've never drank water on its own
In my teens I went off water completely. Had to start with squash to get into it again
I’ve always drank at least 2 litres a day now I force a litre!!! If that x
I have never ever ever drank tap water though. The thought of it repulses me 🤣🤣
This is my mom 100% but she won’t 1/3 it she just won’t drink it she will only drink sprite as she can’t have caffeine because of her heart My mom is odd overall though she eats everything with a fork😂
I hate tap water, can’t abide it unless it has squash in it. I can drink bottled water fine on its own though
The tap water in my city is actually dangerous to drink. We have water filters. But I've always been able to drink water plain. The only time I can't is when I was pregnant with my daughter. It'd turn my stomach to drink plain water. I'd have to put liquid IV in it and have half of it ice to stomach it. But now I drink like 1-2 liters of plain water a day no problem.
I have so many conditions for water. It HAS to be ice cold and I have to be REALLY thirsty (like, exercised or did a ton of yardwork, etc.) to drink plain. Otherwise, I need to add a couple slices of lemon or some frozen fruit... part of my issue is that my sense of smell is crazy. I can SMELL cups. They can smell like soap, or glass can smell metallic, paper smells like wax, etc. The smell affects the taste of the water, since the water doesnt have much of a smell/taste on its own.
Sometimes I CRAVE cool water from the fridge. I'll be minding my business and then get whacked with a sudden urge to drink water! I'll down 12+oz like I've been stranded on a desert island. But when I am trying to stay hydrated throughout the day I'll put some Gatorade powder or a few drops of water flavor in my water bottles.
I had a point in life where room temp made me gag and cold hurt my teeth so bad, I had to have something warm after so I could close my mouth. Then I got pregnant. Water is my bestie now.

@Katy I too taste the soap. But it's not just cups. Anything that wets the dish, be it a cup or a bowl, will "release" the clean and I taste soap. Also since pregnancy but that's been since I dropped him, not while I was preggo.
@Kassie 🌒🌕🌘 Oh yeah - silverware can be AWFUL. 😂
@Lisa And he’s never had any issues?
@Sarah @Jenna I thought by 'squash' you meant you had to drink water with butternut squash in it 🤣 I had to Google if that's a thing, and I learned what it actually is. Haha
@Shay Yeah, I hear you, as my family’s in Arizona. I always drank bottled water, but where I’m currently living, the tap water is considered among the safest in Europe. I still didn’t like the taste and couldn’t drink it at all when I was pregnant. I would only drink bottled water, and a specific brand, because some taste exactly like the tap water 😂
Only for a few days when I was extremely sick. Water suddenly had a strong taste and I had to find a bottle that didn’t taste horrible to me at the time
@Izzy that’s so funny 🤣 different regions will call it different names too so it can get really confusing. In Scotland it’s called diluting juice
At the minute I do prefer drinking squash but definitely not as strong as 1/3. I also still have no issue drinking water
Yep like my whole life LOL I dilute cranberry juice & drink my body weight but when I was pregnant the only thing my son would let me hold down was blue Powerade
The only way I can really drink it is with a lot of ice and the water is very cold.
Me, my whole life , hating water
