Did he have pain relief?
It’s falling out of practice. Many parents don’t do it so they aren’t going to do it to every baby. It’s not medically necessary according to the American academy of pediatrics. If you requested it and they didn’t that’s definitely weird. Check to make sure you weren’t billed for it by the hospital.
My hospital asked if we wanted my son circumcised but maybe some hospitals are just doing it by request? I know that sometimes if they're born a little early(my cousin's baby was a little early but not enough to go to the NICU), you have to get it done after they're full term, but idk if that would be relevant in your case.
I think hospitals are slowly stopping circumcisions. My son got his done two weeks after he was born at the dr office. We lived in Washington state but I believe in California too it’s not done at the hospital
Our hospitals don’t do them right after birth unless requested and if it was an uncomplicated/not traumatic birth. Otherwise they either ask on the first well baby visit after birth about a week later or you have to request it. Our son wasn’t circumcised at the hospital due to his traumatic birth but we had it done a week after birth.
I would call your Objyn and talk to them and go from there! Or call his dr. They should’ve done it in the hospital before you guys left so that’s really odd.
