Find a middle ground. Rest when you need to and maybe customise your gym routine so it’s less tiring for the time being. The tiredness gets easier in the second trimester
Listen to your body and rest id say. You will hopefully get a lot more energy back in second trimester x
I was in your position as well. I just made sure to listen to my body, I kept up my routine and always went to the gym as sometimes the atmosphere or even starting a workout gave me energy. If I still felt too tired then I would try to ease up the workout and basically see how much I could handle. There was times I went and then left 5 mins later and that’s fine! Your body is growing a human from scratch, missing a few workouts is more than understandable x
I realized during my first trimester in order to keep my routine I had to dial it back(more than I wanted to lol) to fit my energy level and just be okay getting the extra rest. Remember, your body is working hard right now, it’s okay for the gym routine to be disrupted a bit during this time. It doesn’t mean you’re giving up. The first trimester is rough, so go at whatever pace your body is telling you to. The second trimester energy comes back up and you can more or less go back to the usual routine.
I don’t gym but I do swim and I found it made me feel much better in first trimester to swim every day even if it wasn’t for as long. Mind you we also had an outdoor pool so I’m sure the sunshine and fresh air helped. I also spent a lot of time sleeping!
I did feel if I didn’t listen to my body I felt worse for it. I’d do a gentle routine- less weights, a shorter session and or more breaks depending on your routine. And adjust to how it makes you feel after your workout and the next day
While I think it's great to listen to your body and nap while needed, on the days I don't workout/run I can't move and feel like I need to sleep all day. Would recommend trying to do some lighter workouts if you're struggling but you might find it makes you feel better!
I needed rest first trimester. Weeks 6-10 I was out. Low appetite lots of nausea and tired But now at 35 weeks I have PT twice a week and still hitting PB STILL trust your gut and listen to your body
Hi Morag I was the same and I rest ! After 14 weeks I have started again and energy are back!!!
I had to rest as sleep and sickness in the first trimester was a lot. Threw up 3 times in one session so was time to rest! Second trimester got much easier to exercise. Your body will let you know
I was in your position and stopped gym workouts. I was too exhausted to do them and worried about the safety of being tired and pushing through a work out. I tried to get my steps In instead
I basically dropped a gym day each trimester. So 3 days in 1st, 2 days in second (give or take a couple or week either side) and then 1 day a week up until my due date. I saw a pt once a week so I never dropped that session, except a couple of times where my morning sickness took me out, but I would sometimes skip solo sessions if I wasn’t feeling it.
I would rest. I think you can build back up again but I wouldn't push. I stopped going to the gym in my first trimester and picked back up again in the second trimester.
Gym. I've kept going although less than I usually would I'm hoping when I'm out of first trimester my energy will be back and I won't feel like I'm starting from scratch. I'm managing about three weight lifting classes a week and maybe if I can one gym session I've not run since about six weeks x

Thank you all for taking the time to comment it really helped me feel a little less guilty and also motivated for the 2nd trimester 🥰💪🏼 I decided to take it easy the last few days and just did my walks and few naps between work. Ended up feeling energetic enough to clean my house a little bit today, so taking that as a win. 🏆 x
Yeah listen to your body, try in the second trimester when you have more energy x
I always found I had more energy after a workout I’d say try and carry on but just take it slower or do less time ? Definitely don’t push yourself too much if you are really tired , I took spa tone iron sachets all the way through pregnancy and even now I take them they are excellent for iron and vitamin C definitely helps when feeling tired d
