Depending on what she’s happy to eat, I would get normal ready meals for her to save on cost as kids ones will be more money just because they’re for kids! My son is autistic so isn’t a great eater but so we do tea for when he gets home then he will snack in the evening or eat cereal! Luckily he is a fruit lover but this shit expensive 😩🙈x
@Charlotte yes they are definitely closer to our sort of meals but I tend to do an early dinner time after school if she’s hungry then maybe snacks or a small bowl of cereal before bed if she gets hungry again x
@Eleanor I hadn’t thought of that, I may try looking at normal ones. So far today she had a yoghurt, yoghurt lolly, grapes, 2 slices of bread, cereal bar, 2 crackers, 2 biscuits and is still complaining! I usually do dinner for 5:30 as struggle to get it ready any earlier, hence ready meals. Agree with the expense!
Or maybe get some Tupperware and cook more dinner then put it in the freezer so it can be reheated when you get in! It’s so hard to find the time for anything as a parent! We cook dinner and my son will literally eat maybe two or three spoonfuls but that’s a win for us! He will literally eat a punnet of strawberries daily 😩x
I also batch cook easy meals like spaghetti and chilli to keep in the freezer, just get them out and stick them in the fridge before we leave in the morning so all I need to do is warm it up with pasta or microwave rice portions. These freezer meals are also great - https://www.cookfood.net/menu/main-meals/kids
I manage about half the time to have leftovers she can eat but the other half it’s sandwiches/wraps etc which isn’t cutting it anymore. I think a 3:30/4 dinner it will be!
Have you tried more protein type snacks? The list you gave is mostly carbs and sugar besides the yoghurt. Which is spent easily-- hence always hungry. Protein should hopefully satiate for longer and release energy slower. Things like nuts/boiled eggs/ hummus as a dip/ peanut butter / greek yogurt / cold meat etc. hope this helps and good luck!
I do a lot of cheese/ham based snacks - often with crackers/bread. She’s not a fan of nuts, eggs (unless omelet) or humous. She’s got sweet potato and lentil curry tomorrow so we’ll see if that does the trick, but omlets may be another good quick option. Thanks for the tip!
I’ll have a look for my Tesco order tonight! We tried a few when she was weaning but she always preferred our food, but these ones might be more close to what we eat.
