Alcohol and pregnancy?

Did you drink through your pregnancy? (Like one glass) and if so, how was your baby?

Didn’t drink

I had a small glass at Christmas however it gave me such bad heartburn I didn’t finish it 😂

I didn’t see the point to be honest, didn’t miss it at all

@Lucy I can imagine the heartburn! lmao

I had 2 glasses of prosecco the day i found out i was pregnant, it was my birthday and we had both my family and hubbys over but we were not ready to tell anyone so i drank them very slowly over the course of the day. Baby was a very healthy bouncy 9lb at birthday and is developing well, nearly 1 now

I had a shandy at my baby shower lol but it was more lemonade that beer haha x

I accidentally drank on a night out 3 days before I found out I was pregnant, I’d not have done it if I’d known I was pregnant but thankfully baby was fine and is now a thriving 2 year old! I’m sure the reason there’s no advice (other than to avoid) is because there’s no way of telling how little alcohol may cause FAS. As someone has said above- I was given a small glass of wine at a family event towards the end of my pregnancy but one sip made me feel violently sick so I couldn’t drink it 😂 it’s to each their own, but idk if it’s worth the risk of drinking intentionally. I absolutely love a glass of wine, so prepared for crisp glass of sauvy b as soon as these babies are out but I can wait for now 💃🏽

@Darcy yes Ive known people to have shandy while pregnant when it’s been hot. What does it even taste like haha

@Jade I’m so tempted to take a small bottle of processco after I give birth LMFAOO

Hahah this is so relatable 😂 imma have a bottle on standby in the fridge 🍷

It tasted nice tbh😂 felt like I was having a drink lol but only had the one as it did have alcohol in it but I was 38 weeks pregnant so I thought one won’t hurt lol x

Didn’t drink

My midwife was the one who told me to have a shandy with my friends (it was my birthday) it was more lemonade then beer but it’s each to their own :)

I didn’t drink in pregnancy but have drunk while I’ve breastfed

I’ve had rose spritzer but literally a dribble of wine and the glass filled to the rim with lemonade at Christmas and at a funeral x

I accidentally went on a night out and got a tattoo before finding out I was pregnant, baby was fine. Also had the odd sip of a drink here and there, again, baby was fine

I had a night out and drank probably more than I should have before knowing I was actually pregnant at the time, baby boy came out weighing 9lbs with no problems x

@Natalia before you find out is not a problem but she’s asking drinking through pregnancy x

If you want “one” glass then go for alcohol free 0.0 and do that as it might be ok for one person to drink but might not be for another. Don’t take the risk in my opinion

I know a lot of people who have had the occasional glass of wine and their babies and grown children are absolutely fine.

I had a glass of wine on my birthday which I didn’t even plan to have but I have a younger brother who was getting on my nerves and since it was my birthday I knew one wouldn’t hurt. She came out perfectly fine. I did get absolutely black out drunk at my friends party before I knew I was pregnant and from that day then drank consistently for the next week because I went straight from there on holiday🥴didn’t find out I was pregnant till 2 weeks later but she’s ok😂

I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was around 8 weeks, and every weekend before I found out I was out drinking double vodkas and doing shots and getting hammered, i'd just left a 12 year dv relationship where I wasn't allowed to do anything without permission ect but that's a different story. So I was making up for lost time and enjoying being me again, but as soon as I found out I was pregnant I'd didn't touch a drop, maybe 1 glass of prosecco at Xmas. And I have a healthy happy thriving all most 3 year old

I found out at 3 weeks and yes I was regularly drinking these first three weeks. And also had champagne to celebrate when we found out. After that I was only having occasional sips until birth. They said ‘drink until it’s pink’ so I never worried about drinking at the beginning and the baby is fine.

@Maria what on earth does ‘drink until it’s pink mean’ ? I’ve never heard that 😂

@Maria drink until it’s pink ? I’ve never heard that haha

In my final 3/4 weeks I was so defeated by my pregnancy and everything that went with it, I had a mini 187ml bottle of rose that took me 4 nights to drink - I loved every sip. Baby is now a thriving 21m old.

Apparently it means until you get BFP 😅

@Maria wow this makes sense!’ 😂

@Charlotte it is honestly defeating. I’ve had a recent loss as my nan passed away on Saturday just gone so not picking up a bottle has been so hard. Might have a glass for her potential wake though.

@Katie Jayne 🫶🏻 I may have a shandy as my grandma is getting cremated next week and it’s been so hard not picking up a bottle to drown out my sorrows but that doesn’t seem too bad compared to wine etc

I did have a white wine spritzer in my 3rd trimester on occasion if it was Xmas or a special occasion and both my children are absolutely fine. Some people don’t find out they are pregnant until 6+months and have drank and taken drugs in this time and had healthy babies so 1 glass of wine is fine. Women were told to have alcohol back in the day when pregnant, medical advice has since changed x
