Raising independent and capable children

I co parent my 15 year old. The typical things that dads teach kids hasn't happened so all has been left to me. Ive started a list of things I think are useful to know by the time you're a young adult such as how to change a fuse, bank account and interest rates, change a lightbulb, what the basic utility bills are, credit/debt/apr charges. Can anyone suggest other life skills? No matter how big or small they are. I'm planning on making them into a scratchcard type thing from etsy for his 16th bday. Once he completes a line he gets a certain amount of money etc. So an incentive for him.
