Saying words

I was wondering if that counts as first words or not to see where my baby is When something falls she says uh-oh If I ask her what does a lion say she roars Dog? She barks She points at things and say Da ( means “this” in my language) If I say otta she says -ta (cat in my language) Do these things count as saying words? Or are these just sounds? She’s 11 months Is she late? how are your babies doing

My April 2024 baby can’t even sit up yet let alone crawl or walk or talk so I’m pretty sure your baby is well on track, if not above the rest 👍🏼

As long as the sound is close to the word and they’re using it consistently, you can count it. At our doctor they asked is there anything she says that you would understand that I wouldn’t? If she’s pointing at something and saying the sound similar to the word, then you can count that. My little one will say dog, ball, bird, bear, banana, and her sister’s name. They obviously don’t sound like she’s saying the word every time it’s mostly just a similar sound but we count it because she’s usually also pointing to or signing the word. Animal sounds also count as words!

Sounds like it.
