I had my C Section at UNC Smithfield. It was amazing. The staff was absolutely incredible, I recovered so quickly, everyone was very informative, they LOVED my little guy. Highly recommend!
My C-section at Moore county hospital was the best experience. UNC chapel hill was a complete nightmare.
I had a C Section at WakeMed Cary. It wasn’t planned, but it was done beautifully! Couldn’t have been in better hands.
@Ashley @Haley @Crystal @Malerie Gholson did they let your husband back with you? Duke website said they did but then wouldn’t bring him back til I was having a panic attack without him
Oh yeah. He was my support person. You can only have 1 person in the OR with you.
Mine let my husband back after the spinal tap but they had amazing nurses, I was terrified but the nurse was amazing and my husband was back there before I was even laid down.
Yes. They let him in after the spinal tap, he got to cut one of the cords
I had my c section at Atrium Pineville and they let my husband come in after they did the spinal and after everything was prepped but before they actually started the procedure. They don't let them in the room until they're ready to actually start so that they're not in the way and they can go through all their processes to get ready. The nurse that got me prepped before we got to the OR was with me for the spinal though so you're not alone
I had an emergency c at mission in Asheville and they got baby out really fast, before my husband could get in the outfit to come in the OR but they got him back there as fast as they could. The guy that did my epidural and a nurse held my hands while we waited on my husband too
@Vanessa I would’ve been fine with him coming back after prep but they had me cut open on the table and THEN brought him in without telling him he’d be seeing me like that. Genuinely looking back on it, if people had actually just communicated more compassionately and thoroughly it wouldn’t have been half as traumatic
Oh man I'm sorry. Was it an emergency? Communication definitely goes a long way though especially with a procedure like this. Mine was scheduled so hopefully your next experience will be better!
They did let him back
I was at Duke regional and I felt the same way — it was an emergency c section so I think there was just a lot going on very quickly but it seemed to take forever til my husband was allowed in (although he did end up there for the full procedure), both of us were panicking not being in the same room the whole time. It seemed like communication could have been a bit better in a scary situation. I’m sorry you felt that way too 🙁
(They also said he could cut the cord and we could keep the placenta but neither of those happened…)
I had my csection at catawba valley medical center. My husband was with me and the staff was super friendly. Plus they have a great nicu, incase anything happens.
