C section pain

After 34 hours of a painful and stressful labour, our little one arrived via v section on the 26th February. I came home 3 days ago and all I have is ibuprofen and paracetemol as pain relief, not cutting the pain I am breastfeeding, has anyone else been prescribed anymore?

Yes, I made them give me dihydrocodeine xx

If you’re breastfeeding you can’t have any form or codeine but you can have oramorph. Either option you’d need a prescription for though. Hope the pain gets better for you soon!

I was also prescribed codeine after my delivery but make sure you discuss stool softeners when you get them prescribed as they can cause constipation x

Thanks I had dehydrocodeine hut it ran out yesterday and t I got morphine shots in the hospital to which were great. I will see if I can get more prescribed

@Aimee you can have dihydrocodeine if breastfeeding - I was prescribed it in hospital and to take home while breastfeeding

@Jen I just had a Google as a few people said they had it and I see that you’re completely right! You can have dihydrocodeine when breast feeding but not codeine though weirdly. My trust give oramorph to breast feeding mums as the midwife said they can’t give us codeine based products so I’ve learnt something new today 😂

Go back to your midwife or call triage and get a prescription for oramorph

I went home with diclofenac and paracetamol Phone your GP and get something prescribed asap x
