Hey, I’m sorry you’re going through this. I’ve been laid off in the past because my industry is volatile, and it sucks. It’s hard not to internalize the feeling, but please do your best not to. It’s ok to be scared and frustrated, but it’s not an indictment of how smart or talented you are. All it shows you is how good your company is at capitalism.
It was when covid just started so it was understandable.
I wasn’t really laid off officially, but they made me quit : I was a broker my salary was based at 80% on my revenue, so depends of my work & clients book. When I left in maternity leave, my colleague took big part of my income (we got paid after the client request post trade) & my team made me understand very clearly that they dispatched my clients between them and there were now no place for me. It hurt a lot honestly even if I had planned to quit anyway bc I was pregnant again. Because I tripled the desk income when I was there, I taught everything to that colleague, it felt really like a big betrayal and felt like they were considering me like useless bc I was having a child …
I’ve been through redundancy 4 times. It never gets easier but I’ve bounced back every time by just focussing on it being an opportunity for a new start. Allow yourself to feel whatever you feel for a few days and then start looking at what the future could be with a new job ❤️
They said I can apply for unemployment, so I'm not too worried about my bills. But they laid me off during my lunch break along with my whole department.🤧🤧🤧
