Pessaries after ovulation

Has anyone taken progesterone pessaries after they’ve ovulated to help with conception? I keep having chemicals and miscarriages so I am going to try taking them after ovulation instead of waiting until a positive pregnancy test as seems it’s too late. My question is if you don’t get pregnant when do you take the pessaries up until and will it mess up my natural cycle? Do you just have to take a pregnancy test to see if pregnant and if not, stop taking them? I don’t want it to mess with my cycle as I’m ovulating fine at the moment .

Only use the pessaries once you get a postive test no sooner

Do you have low progesterone, or a short luteal phase? I think you can start taking them after ovulation but if you don’t get a positive by 12DPO, you should stop them. Be mindful they might delay your period starting though. If you get a positive after stopping then you can restart them again.

Okay thanks both.

My gyne gave me progesterone, I started it a day and a half after ovulation, for 12 days, took a pregnancy test, if negative, stopped. You should get your period 2 to 5 days after stopping. For me it was two to three days. If you have cycles of 28 days, it will delay your cycle a few days, but shouldn't affect it. But I would discuss it with my gyne first, at the end of the day it is medication and you should not take it if your doctor does not approve. Do blood test on day 21 to confirm the level of progesterone. Mine was a little low and that is why I got it prescribed.

@Mon great thank you. My cycles are normally 31/32 days. Think I’ll discuss it with the early miscarriage unit first but just frustrating I’m ovulating every month and have conceived numerous times but it seems my progesterone is dropping very soon after conception and I’m either having a chemical or miscarriage!

During IVF I took them 3 days before my embryo transfer and then if the test was negative I stopped and had to wait for my period to come, never any sooner
